Jiangnan Automobile has introduced a new hatchback laconically named the U2. A dedicated production site is scheduled to open to assemble it in Bishan District, and is expected to make up to 100,000 cars per year.
The Jiangnan U2 comes based on the all-electric Ruixiang Hoen O2 model and is largely identical to it except for front fascia styling. It is about as large as the Suzuki Swift and can be ordered with 16- or 17-inch wheels.
The front panel houses two displays and offers a bare minimum of physical controls. A paddle shifter is used for transmission shifts, and the list of options mentions AEB and power adjustments among other things.
There are two engines to choose from, rated at 75 and 109 PS (74 and 108 hp; 55 and 80 kW, respectively). Depending on how much you are planning to drive every day, there are three battery sizes to decide among – for 151, 305 and 406 km of range (roughly 94, 190 and 252 miles).
