Karma and DeLorean make up, revoke claims

U.S.-based automakers Karma Automotive and DeLorean Motors Reimagined have settled their intellectual property lawsuit, InsideEVs reports. Karma decided to revoke its claim from last year, and the court had no objections.

Karma Automotive emerged in the mid-2010s as a Chinese-owned business based on now-defunct Fisker Automotive (not to be confused with the currently active Fisker Inc.). The company’s original plans included designing a spiritual successor to the iconic DeLorean DMC-12 sports coupe.

A number of key employees broke off from the main company at a certain point and founded their own startup firm called DeLorean Motors Reimagined. Understandably enough, Karma, which was still apparently planning on releasing a similar car, decided to accuse them of IP theft.

In the spring of 2022, the resurrected DeLorean brand unveiled a concept car called Alpha5 (see the photos and the video below). Its gull0wing doors in particular have been designed by ItalDesign, the company that had earlier cooperated with Karma on other projects.
