Karma Revero GT becomes GS-6, sheds $50k

Karma Revero GT, essentially an updated version of the Fisker Karma sedan, has never sold more than 1,000 annual units throughout its four years on the market. Will things change now that Karma Automotive has renamed its model to GS-6 and cut the price nearly in half?

The important thing to realize is, the underpinning tech stays old. The car still comes powered by its 1.5-liter turbocharged three-pot made by BMW, which acts as a range extender/power generator for dual electric motors. Both of these drive the rear axle and join their efforts for 542 PS (536 hp / 400 kW). A 28-kWh traction battery gives the setup up to 129 kilometers (80 miles) of all-electric driving range, and going hybrid extends it to 579 km (360 miles).

The available trims are called Standard, Luxury, and Sport. Differences boil down to décor and options, and the Sport variant is basically the same as the former Revero GTS model: it has individual electric motor ECUs for advanced torque management.

Other than new color and trim options, things stay the way they were ten years ago. The most welcome improvement comes in the form of a substantially lower starting price: $84,000 USD instead of $135,000. The upcoming GSe-6 model – a new take on the Revero GTE – is going to be even more affordable at $79,900.

Karma says it will reserve the model name ‘Revero’ for future vehicles.
