After a long period of silence, Karma Automotive has finally revealed some specs and the pricing behind its first all-electric vehicle, the GSe-6. It should go on sale next year priced from U.S. $79,900.
The manufacturer’s current lineup consists of only one production car, and that is the Revero Hybrid. Essentially a remade Fisker Karma from nine years ago, the Revero had been praised by some market experts as the ultimate Tesla killer. With an interesting design and the opportunity to switch between gas and electric power, it could indeed become a best-seller – if it weren’t for the prohibitive pricing. Specifically, an entry-level PHEV offered a meager 409 PS (300 kW) for $130,000, while the Revero GT spec brought 544 PS (400 kW) to the table for $144,800. The new flagship spec called GTS debuted a year ago, but hasn’t come out yet.
The new GSe-6 looks and feels much like the Revero shown in the video here. It comes powered by a 110-kWh battery for 483 kilometers (300 miles) of all-electric range. The wheels measure 21 inches across, there are cameras all around the car for better visibility, and you can drive using only one pedal. The EV supports an SAE Level 2 autonomous driving system.
Pre-orders are already available starting from $100. Karma promises to reveal more information in a month.
There is no avoiding comparing the new EV to the basic Tesla Model S Long Range Plus, which has a $69,420 sticker price and can do 647 kilometers (402 miles) on a charge.
