Kia show car with 21 displays makes an entrance at Geneva

South Korean car manufacturer Kia has unveiled its all-new design study called “Imagine by Kia” at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. The car sports twenty-one displays in its cabin and should eventually make it to the mass market, but not until 2021 or later.

The Imagined by Kia provides us with a fairly good idea of how the company sees the future of cars. Kia stresses that the vehicle cannot be categorized under any given body design type, since it combines features of a sedan/saloon and a crossover/SUV.

Perhaps the most immediately obvious feature of the new car is its original LED light pattern in front, dubbed “tiger smile” by some.

Just as we said above, the concept vehicle boasts a grand total of 21 color LCDs inside, admittedly Kia’s tongue-in-cheek allusion to the apparent obsession of other manufacturers with stuffing their cars full of touchscreen displays, or otherwise putting the entire dash on a single enormous screen.

It remains to be seen what kind of powertrain the car ends up with. Gregory Guillaume, head of Kia Frankfurt, hinted some time ago that it would be something altogether extraordinary. It is also official that the company joined efforts with Hyundai to develop the chassis, and that the EV will offer around 500 kilometers (310 miles) of range.
