Kia has come to this year's motor show in Seoul, South Korea with a mini-SUV concept called SP Signature. The car is slated for eventual global release.
The new Kia SP Signature is loosely based on the early prototype called Kia SP that the company introduced at the India Motor Show last year. Rumors say that the production car will be called Kia Tusker and will enjoy its public reveal next month.
The alleged Kia Tusker will take advantage of the next-gen Hyundai Creta platform and ship front-driven only. Even though the Creta chassis supports seven-seat configurations by design, the Tusker will only be able to accommodate up to five passengers.
The engine and transmission data remain a matter of speculation right now. In all likelihood, though, the car will ship with a choice between a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine rated at 150 hp (112 kW) and a 1.4-liter turbo V4 capable of 140 hp (104 kW). The latter engine is what the third-gen Kia Ceed currently ships with. Transmission options will likely include iVT and 7-speed DCT.
