South Korean car manufacturer Kia has posted the first design sketches of its upcoming new mini-SUV. The car still goes without a name, but the company says it will introduce it officially in the coming summer. Sales in South Korea will begin in the second half of 2019, shortly followed by market launches in other countries.
Based on the pics, the newcomer seems inspired by the SP Signature Concept that the company unveiled during the last year’s international motor show in New Delhi, India.
The SUV sports Kia’s trademark ‘tiger nose grille’, an elongated hood, side windows tapering towards the c-pillars, and a rear bumper with integrated faux tailpipes.
Earlier rumors claimed that the SP Signature Concept would eventually reach the mass market as the ‘Kia Tusker’, sharing its principal architecture with the latest Hyundai Creta. Observers expect the series to ship with a choice between a 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine rated at 140 hp (104 kW) and its 2.0-liter naturally aspirated counterpart churning out 150 hp (112 kW).
