Kia launches Seltos in India

South Korean car manufacturer Kia has officially introduced the Seltos, a compact crossover SUV meant for the international market. The premiere occurred during a special event in Dehli, India. Sales in a number of countries begin in the second half of 2019.

The small SUV will mainly have to compete against the Hyundai Creta in its market niche. Its primary design features include Kia’s trademark “Tiger’s Smile” front grille, 3D turn signals, and LED-based daytime running lights, fog lights and brake lights.

Regardless of the trim version, the Seltos always ships with a 10.25-inch multimedia screen and a multi-function steering wheel. Paid extras include a high-end audio system, an 8-inch HUD display, and an intelligent ambient lighting system.

Engine availability depends on your particular region. Gasoline options include a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated unit rated at 150 hp (112 kW) and a 1.6-liter turbo with 177 hp (132 kW). Some markets also get a 1.6-liter diesel good for 136 hp (101 kW). Transmissions include six-speed automatic, seven-speed DCT, and CVT.

As far as the equipment is concerned, Kia Seltos gets traction control and dynamic roll stabilization features by default. There are also a few optional driver aids, such as parking assist, AEB and HSA.
