Kia’s newest compact crossover SUV – the Seltos – premiered on June 20, 2019, but the manufacturer has waited a week before revealing its interior. Let us see what is so intriguing there to justify the wait.
The cabin clearly benefits from fine finishing materials and boasts a modern infotainment system with a 10.25-inch standalone display next to a multi-function steering wheel. Overall, we think it delivers on the company’s promise to release an SUV for ‘young, tech-savvy buyers’.
Standard and available equipment includes Bose audio, 8-inch HUD, smart ambient lighting, front/rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, all-around view camera system, wireless phone charger, and Kia’s trademark drive mode selector.
Depending on your region, the SUV will ship with a choice between a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine (177 hp / 132 kW), a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated one (149 hp / 111 kW) and a 1.6-liter diesel engine (136 hp / 101 kW). Available transmission types include six-speed automatic, CVT, and seven-speed DCT, although these are also liable to regional availability restrictions.
The Kia Seltos will arrive on selected markets in the second half of 2019.
