Following an announcement made a few months ago, Kia has confirmed that its CV model will be henceforth known as ‘EV6’, and that it will break cover later this month.
The Kia EV Series will consist of purely electric vehicles numbered 1 through 9, where larger numbers mean larger body dimensions. The EV6 in particular seems inspired by the Imagine by Kia Concept dating back to 2019. Based on the images, it is a crossover SUV with a sloped roof and unusual headlights.
On the technical aside of things, the vehicle will be based on the same E-GMP platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the impending Genesis GV60. Kia says it will build six more EVs using this platform, while the rest of the range will be available in all-electric and ICE / part-electric variants. All in all, Kia’s plans until 2025 involve releasing 11 battery cars.
It is official that the EV6 will ship with an SAE Level 2 autonomous driving system. No further specifications have been made known, although you can take the Ioniq 5 as a point of reference.
