The South Korean car giant Kia is almost ready to begin mass production of the latest Kia Telluride SUV, a senior model to the Sorento off-roader currently in the market. The corresponding statement was made by Kia Chief Designer Peter Schreyer. He never mentioned the release date.
According to an official source, the car won’t premiere in Europe anytime soon, since its market niche has already been taken by Kia Sorento. Instead, it will primarily target the U.S. automotive market where big, bulky SUVs are traditionally popular.
The Kia Telluride prototype car first debuted at the Detroit car show in 2016. The vehicle was built on the extended Sorento platform and received a 3.5-liter compressor V6 as well as an electric motor. The resulting hybrid engine yielded approximately 400 horsepower.
