The North American division of Kia has announced a quintet of premieres for the Consumer Electronics Show set to take place in Las Vegas in January next year. These will be several all-electric commercial vans on display that the company calls ‘PBVs’, or ‘Purpose-Built Vehicles’. At least one of them is guaranteed to reach production.
According to Kia, its new commercial transports lineup will be characterized by a thorough approach to design. The modular architecture it is based upon is going to be flexible enough to suit the needs of all kinds of businesses, from passenger or cargo transportation to robotic taxis and public service vehicles.
This new platform is also expected to support SAE Level 4 self-driving systems, offering drivers a host of cutting-edge safety assists and other useful features.
One of the five vehicles being brought to the CES-2024 will debut in the pre-production van status. Its final production version is scheduled for market launch in 2025.
We have heard multiple times about Kia’s intention to launch a whole new lineup of commercial EVs, but the company had never revealed any actual concepts – until now, that is.
