The Indian branch of Kia will be unveiling a new compact van reusing the historic name of Carens (‘car’ + ‘Renaissance’) on December 16, 2021. In the meantime, here is a teaser video of what is to come.
Based on it, the MPV has LED lighting all around with Carnival-style headlights merged with the radiator grille.
Technical details remain to be revealed, but it is safe to expect to the Carens to be based on the N3 platform of most modern Kia vehicles, including the K5 and the Sorento. According to the company itself, the model will offer a mix of spaciousness, premium feel and technological advancement.
Sales in India will begin in the first quarter of 2022. It remains open whether the van will ever reach other markets.
The Kis Carens came out in 1999 and was discontinued in 2019 after three generations.
