Kia reveals some EV6 specs for the USA

The Kia EV6 is the South Korean marque’s first car designed from the ground up to run on electric power alone. Two months after the original premiere in March 2021, the company has now announced the detailed specifications of the U.S.-bound version.

For all intents and purposes, the North American EV6 is the same as the international model, with a few interesting quirks. For one, it has a stated driving range of 300 miles. The EU spec has the exact same range, but the measurement standards are different. 300 miles EPA-rated equals 316 miles WLTP-rated, so in order to keep its 300-mile rating in North America, the EV6 will need to ship with a slightly larger battery array there.

What’s also important, the performance-laden EV6 GT will utilize multiple electric motors for an all-wheel-drive configuration. Their cumulative output will amount to 576 PS (568 hp / 424 kW), which will be enough to conclude the standard 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 3.5 seconds. Three less powerful options rated at 167, 218 and 313 PS (165, 215 and 310 kW, respectively) will also be available.

Customers in the USA will be able to grab a GT finished in multiple unique colors shortly after the launch. Pre-order books will open on June 3, and shipments will begin in 2022.
