Reports: Kia working on two new EVs for 2022–2024

Kia has only recently launched the EV6 model, but it looks like it will be introducing more all-electric cars soon.

According to AutoExpress, the Korean automaker is already working on two crossover SUVs: a compact one for Europe and a full-size one for the United States. The former will reportedly be sized similar to the Seltos and Sportage and be called the EV4. It will allegedly be based on the same E-GMP architecture as the Genesis GV60, Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, and will compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQA and Volvo C40.

This one may ship with traction batteries rated at 58 and 77.4 kilowatt-hours in single- and dual-motor specifications (RWD and AWD, respectively). Maxing out at 325 PS (321 hp / 239 kW), it will offer between 450 and 500 km (280 – 310 miles) of range, AutoExpress claims.

The other, larger SUV for the United States will probably be called EV7 or EV8. It could arrive to the market ahead of the EV4, but both should appear on the lineup in 2022–2024.

In other news, the Kia EV6 has recently become a sales hit with 33,000 pre-orders collected within the first few days since launch.
