Kia refreshes the EV6

The modernized Kia EV6 has debuted on its domestic market of South Korea, where pre-order books are already open.

Starting from the exterior, the electric SUV ended up with new DRLs, reshaped bumpers and fresh wheel designs sized up to 20 inches in diameter. Judging by the photos, the rest of the design stays the same. The GT-line trim has been revealed alongside the main car – you will find it at the end of the gallery here.

While the interior layout stays the same, the tech underneath is largely new. There are two improved 12.3-inch displays on the dash, a digital rearview mirror and a superior heads-up display, among other things. Over-the-air updates have been reworked to apply to a wider range of electronic systems, and the steering wheel has been redesigned along with the wireless charging pad. Owners can now use a fingerprint scanner to access their preferences or start the car.

The battery has grown in size from 77.4 to 84 kilowatt-hours. As a result, the base single-motor EV6 now averages 494 km (307 miles) per charge, up from 475 km (295 miles). The all-wheel-drive crossover gets 461 km (286 miles) on a charge.

The charging times are the same as before. Refilling the battery from 10 to 80 percent from a 350kW charging point takes around 18 minutes. In Sourth Korea, the EV6 ships with either a single motor rated at 229 PS (226 hp / 168 kW) or two, producing 325 PS (321 hp / 239 kW). The respective torques are at 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) and 605 Nm (446 lb-ft).

Kia also points out recalibrated shock absorbers, improved noise proofing all around and stiffer, more robust b-pillars. Prices in Korea start from 55.4 million Won.
