Next-gen KIA Forte / Cerato / K3 revealed

Kia Motors Corporation has held an official presentation of its latest Kia Forte compact sedan at the Detroit car show. The same vehicle is known as KIA Cerato / K3 in some countries.

Car industry professionals point out that the newcomer looks a lot like the recently revealed KIA Stinger, but has a longer hood cover and a shorter rear in comparison. All in all, the appearance of the new KIA Forte could be described with phrases like “now more stylish”, “sportier” and “eye-catching”. It became longer and taller than its predecessor model.

It is also now built around a heavy-duty steel framework that makes it safer to drive. Noise proofing and overall steerability are likewise reported to have been improved – the latter mostly due to the new suspension kit.

The U.S. version of KIA Forte comes in three different trim levels all of which include projection headlamps and a touch-enabled infotainment system.

The hood compartment of the latest KIA Forte sedan now houses a 2.0-liter V4 compressor engine which outputs 147 hp with 179 Nm torque. Fuel consumption is estimated at 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers traveled. That amounts to 42 miles per British gallon, or 35 miles per U.S. gallon.

First cars will make it to the showrooms before the end of the year.
