Kia has already shown us some images of its K8 sedan coming to replace the K7/Cadenza, and is now following up with some other interesting information.
The baseline 1.6-liter petrol engine enjoys a range of improvements, but specifics remain unknown, as does the transmission type. A new 2.5-liter combined-injection engine comes rated at 198 PS (195 hp / 146 kW).
Topping the range is a 3.5-liter Smartstream mill paired with an eight-speed auto gearbox. The powertrain develops 300 PS (29296 hp / 221 kW) on gasoline and 240 PS (237 hp / 176 kW) on liquefied propane. Only the stronger version supports AWD.
The Ergo Motion driver’s seat now benefits from an air-cushioned base, and can assume a sports-ready “bucket seat” shape when you switch to Sport Mode or accelerate past 130 km/h (81 mph). Headrest length is adjustable, and the front passenger seat is 8-way power adjustable as well.
Options include Meridian audio, a 12-inch digital dashboard, a HUD, a range of driver assists, and a Starry Cloud ambient lighting on the door panels and the dash.
Sales will begin in April.
