The Kia Mohave SUV has been around since 2008, and has only ever got one update. Apparently, despite its respectable age, Kia does not feel like retiring the body-on-frame off-roader. The South Korean company actually wants to bring it up to date – as evidenced aby this Kia Mohave Masterpiece Concept that debuted at the 2019 Seoul Motor Show.
One immediate highlight is the new radiator grille now spanning the entire width of the car front and adorned with vertical chrome fins. There are headlights sitting on both sides of the grille, but the integration is so seamless that you need to know where to look to see them. The hood and the front fenders are different, and so are the tailgate and the taillights.
The Kia Mohave Masterpiece comes equipped with the standard 3.0-liter, six-cylinder turbo diesel engine. The same engine produces around 250 or 260 hp (186 – 194 kW) on the current-gen Mohave.
The interior design remains a mystery, as the Seoul display car had its windows completely blacked out. The manufacturer promises a high-end multimedia system with a 12.3-inch display, adaptive ambient lighting, a fine interior finish, and a whole range of preventive safety features.
The final production version of the new Kia Mohave will debut in the second half of 2019, and it will likely look more or less the same as the Seoul concept car.
