Kia Niro facelift to arrive in mid-2019

Kia has revealed some new details concerning the upcoming mid-generational refresh of its Niro hybrid SUV. The car will be exhibited at the Geneva motor show starting in a week and will ship in the second quarter of 2019.

Compared to the pre-facelift version, the new Niro sports different bumpers, LED-based lighting, the company’s trademark tiger-nose grille, and a trailer coupling that enables you to haul up to 1.3 metric tons (2,850 lb.) of cargo in a trailer attachment.

Inside, there is a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen display and a 7-inch instrument panel.

The Kia Niro facelift comes equipped with a 1.6-liter T-GDi engine, an electric motor and a 1.56 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Kia will use the Geneva trade fair to reveal a few other new products as well. One of these is a Niro Plug-in Hybrid which comes with a larger 8.9 kWh battery sufficient for up to 65 kilometers (40 miles) of all-electric driving.

Another premiere will be dedicated to a mysterious design study that would provide us with a glimpse at the design of future Kia EVs. The company said the four-door concept vehicle doesn’t fit in the existing naming conventions for cars, as it combines certain features of an SUV, a sports car, and a sedan/saloon.
