The original Kia Niro debuted in South Korea in November 2021, and now, its overseas version has been revealed in an official video. The premiere remains scheduled for the NIYAS show later this month.
In the brief vid, Kia does its best to leave us excited about the design of the SUV, but it looks no different from the international version. The footage places emphasis on taillights, c-pillars and edgy DRLs, but none of it is new. The updated interior is not shown, but expecting any major changes there would also be odd.
The U.S.-spec Niro will be available in three main versions: mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery EV. The HEV will use a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a 32-kW electric motor for a combined output of 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW). The PHEV will be more powerful with 182 PS (180 hp / 136 kW). Finally, the Niro EV will sit at the top of the range with its 202 PS (200 hp / 150 kW).
