KIA Niro EV debuts in South Korea

The all-electric crossover KIA Niro EV just debuted at a dedicated presentation event in South Korea – not even half a year away from the reveal of its concept version.

According to the manufacturer, the newcomer utilizes the same chassis as the Hyundai Ionic EV. Compared to the concept car, the production model has differently designed bumpers, wheels and headlights. It also looks not quite as hi-tech as that one.

Once it ships, the all-electric crossover will be available with a choice between two engines, one rated at 204 hp (152 kW) and another offering 135 hp (100 kW). The former will plug in to a 64 kWh battery set, whereas the latter will use a smaller set with a capacity of just 40 kWh. Depending on the model you choose, you may expect a driving range of up to 380 km (236 mi).

No technical specifications or prices are known to date.
