Kia Ray gets updated in South Korea

Judging by the first official pics of the 2023 Kia Ray, the microvan now sports a redesigned exterior and has a digital dash inside. Domestic sales are set to begin in September.

The Ray comes based on the second-gen Kia Picanto chassis and is under 3.6 meters (140 inches) long. The model has been in production since 2011 with the first major update in 2017. The lineup includes an MPV, an LCV and even a single-seater van with the entire interior room beyond the driver’s seat dedicated to cargo.

The second facelift sees the Ray undergo some major design changes. The list includes completely new headlights, body kit and faux grille. We have yet to see it from all angles, but chances are good that the sliding door at the rear right side is preserved.

Changes are scarce in the cabin, where they largely boil down to trim details. Aside from those, the dashboard is now fully digital as opposed to combining analog gauges with a small display.

Everything else, including the pricing, remains to be revealed. The main assumption is that the new Ray will hold on to its familiar 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine rated at 78 PS (77 hp / 57 kW) and mated to a four-speed auto gearbox. The current modification (see video) starts just above 13,000,000 KRW and gets to 15,800,000 KRW with all option boxes ticked.
