Despite Kia Motors already having a Rio-based crossover SUV called Stonic on its lineup, the company intends to expand the offer by launching another, similar model soon. The compact car currently goes by the provisional name of ‘Xrio’.
In fact, the Korean automobile maker claims it needs four or even five such models to cover the market demand. Some of these will be electrified or all-electric. As for the Xrio, it is going to be an ‘affordable yet attractive’ vehicle with a contrasting roof, among other visual highlights. The company says it will go up against the Volkswagen T-Roc in its market segment.
Kia has recently launched the XCeed, yet another crossover/SUV based on the same platform as its Ceed hatchback.
