Kia underway to testing its new Seltos EV

The South Korean automotive giant has produced an all-electric prototype of its Seltos SUV and will be testing it in the coming months. The production is scheduled for August 2020.

According to foreign media, the nature-friendly crossover comes equipped with the same powertrain as the Hyundai Kona Electric, specifically a single motor producing 136 hp (100 kW) and 395 Nm (291 lb-ft) of torque. Linked to a 39.2-kWh battery, it should have around 450 kilometers (280 miles) of range on average.

That said, the Kona has a performance-oriented version in the lineup, which packs 204 hp (152 kW) alongside 64 kWh of juice. The Seltos might get these specs as well. In this case, its WLTP-rated range would go up to 482 km (300 miles).
