Kia launches Sonet in India

The subcompact-sized crossover SUV Kia Sonet has become available in India today as the South Korean brand’s cheapest and smallest utility vehicle in its entire range.

The Kia Sonet draws its power from a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine rated at 83 hp (62 kW), although customers may opt for a 1.0-liter turbo instead if they want 120 hp (90 kW). There is also a third option: a 1.5-liter diesel engine good for 100 hp (75 kW). As many as five transmissions are available to choose from: 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, intelligent clutch-free manual, 6-speed auto, and 7-speed DCT.

The car features six airbags, ventilated front seats, an air conditioner with a virus filter, a 10.25-inch multimedia system with a voice assistant, a premium 7-speaker audio set, and wireless charging. Assists include AEB and parking sensors on both ends of the car.

Customers in India may choose from two available Sonet trims: Tech and GT. Differences boil down to individual body kit parts and radiator grille design.
