2021 Kia Sorento makes its public debut

Kia has unveiled its next-generation Sorento SUV during a dedicated live feed for South Korea. The crossover will eventually ship to numerous countries throughout the world, so let us see what is new and exciting.

Exterior would be the first highlight. In line with the company’s newest motto, “Refined Boldness”, it combines elegance with ruggedness. Up front, there is the easily recognizable “tiger’s nose” grille, as well as the new headlights with LED-based DRLs next to them. The brake lights are now vertical, the entire body sports sharper outlines, and both overhangs are shorter than before.

Inside, there is a new digital dashboard measuring 12.3 inches across, accompanied by a 10.25-inch infotainment system and navigation screen. The cabin benefits from premium finishing options, such as leather, metal, textile, and textured surfaces.

In Australia and Europe, the Sorento will predominantly ship with a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine good for 198 hp (148 kW) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft). This engine works in tandem with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The other option is a hybrid powertrain rated at 227 hp (169 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque, mated to a six-speed auto gearbox.

In North America, the 2021 Sorento will enter the market with a 277hp (207kW) T-GDi engine and a hybrid drivetrain with so far undisclosed specs.

Safety aids now include head-on collision prevention, smart cruise control, RCTA, remote parking smart assist, rearview camera, and much more.
