The fourth generation of Kia Sorento will hit the European markets later this year equipped with an advanced chassis and powertrain control system called Terrain Mode. Let us explore the details.
The Terrain Mode provides smart presets for driving on sand, snow and dirt. There is a rotary knob on the center console that you can use to switch between modes.
In the Snow mode, the system caps the engine torque and redistributes it more smoothly between the axles. Gear switching occurs more often, and engine revolutions are kept down.
The Dirt mode pays even more attention to smooth torque distribution and introduces delayed gear switching when the RPM count is high.
When driving the new 2021 Sorento on sand, it only switches gears at higher RPM counts and distributes the torque evenly between the axles.
