Customers in Europe will be able to drive their electrified Sorento CUVs starting in the first quarter of 2021, the company reports.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain of the new Sorento incorporates a 1.6-liter gas turbo engine rated at 180 PS (178 hp / 132 kW) and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque and an electric motor contributing another 91 PS (90 hp / 67 kW) and 304 Nm (224 lb-ft). Their combined output amounts to 265 PS (261 hp / 195 kW) and the torque stays capped at 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). A 13.8-kWh battery grants between 57 and 70 kilometers of all-electric range.
Thanks to its carefully designed component layout, the Sorento Hybrid keeps three seat rows and a rather large trunk. The latter amounts to 809 liters (28.57 cubic feet) with the two rear seats folded and shrinks to 175 liters (6.18 cu. ft.) with them raised.
