Reports: Kia EV3 may succeed Soul EV

Kia continues actively developing its electric vehicle lineup: starting with the EV6 in 2021, it followed up with the EV9 flagship in the spring of 2023 and has recently announced the EV5. The list of pending releases also mentions the EV4 and EV3, and the latter is shaping up to be a compact urban CUV capable of sending the current Soul EV to its retirement, reports Autocar.

The all-electric Kia Soul received its last major update as far back as 2019 (see video) and hasn’t been touched since. In the meantime, Kia is already taking the EV3 to its road tests – the spy shots are in the gallery below. It seems to have short overhangs, a clear window line and a nearly upright tailgate.

In earlier news, we learned that Kia and Hyundai were planning to switch to the unitized platform known as the eM for their electric cars starting in 2025. The EV3 also runs on the eM architecture, but the technical details remain secret. Rumors claim it offers up to 645 km (400 miles) of range per charge.
