We have already seen camouflage-clad Kia Sportage NQ5 test vehicles running around, and now, car paparazzi have invaded the cabin of the fourth-gen Sportage as well.
Judging by the pic, the crossover SUV resembles the Sorento from the inside. It notably has a digital dashboard merged with the touchscreen display in the center, and the central display looks rotated slightly towards the driver. A new Kia logo sits on the steering wheel, lacking the oval frame and prominent parts.
The model should premiere in the first half of 2021, presumably as early as April. It is currently running pre-production tests in South Korea and at the North Loop in Germany. The spied example sports a regular wheelbase, but an LWB version will be there for the Chinese market.
The decals on the body also notify us that it is a hybrid vehicle. We will likely also get the Sportage with a variety of 1.6-liter gasoline and diesel turbo-four engines to choose from, including ones assisted by 48V electric starters.
On an interesting side note, this is actually the fifth generation of the Sportage and not the fourth, but for some reason, Kia preferred to forget the first generation ever existed after signing a cooperation agreement with Hyundai.
