U.S.-spec Kia Sportage gets teased ahead of October 27 premiere

Kia has posted the first teaser pic showing the nose of its facelifted Sportage model for North America ahead of its official debut next Wednesday, October 27, 2021. To be frank, it looks little different from the international version revealed in June and the European one shown last month.

In all likelihood, the largest U.S.-specific change will be a longer wheelbase compared to that of the EU variant. There is still nothing we know about the drivetrain, but the company promised a multitude of efficient and powerful engines to choose from.

The North American Sportage will be available in FWD and AWD versions with a plethora of electronic assists to opt for. It will also take advantage of a state-of-the-art infotainment system with giant displays, among other things.

The international car comes equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine rated at 177 PS (175 hp / 130 kW) and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque. There is also a diesel spec, which will not be present on the American market. Instead, the company plans to offer a few different MHEV and PHEV specs there.
