Kia unveiled the new ICE-powered Sportage with a modern exterior, same cabin and a 2.5-liter engine under the hood last month. Today, its hybrid cousin has been unveiled.
The Kia Sportage Hybrid is set to ship in 2022 and offers a 1.6-liter turbo engine assisted by a 61-PS (60-hp / 45-kW) electric motor and a small lithium-ion battery. The system produces 226 PS (223 hp / 166 kW) and exceeds 800 km (500 miles) of range with the tank and the battery unit filled to capacity. A six-speed automatic transmission rotates the wheels, and you get to choose between FWD and AWD.
Things stay familiar inside the cabin, so we are not going to go into any detail here. The driver aids list is mildly more interesting and includes lanekeeping, automatic high beams, AEB, blind spot monitoring, and more.
