Our Chinese media colleagues have recently posted a few pics of the China-only KIA Sportage compact SUV. The series-produced vehicle closely takes after the KIA NP Concept demonstrated to the visitors of the 2017 Guangzhou Motor Show. The new model is meant as a replacement for the Sportage R – which is, frankly, great news considering how the latter looks and feels outdated in almost every aspect.
So, like we said, the next-generation KIA Sportage will only be sold in China. It is based on the current-gen chassis of the same name which means slightly larger body dimensions.
In its base version, the vehicle comes with LED headlights, its own set of 17 or 18-inch wheels and, of course, a couple of basic safety features like lane control and collision warning.
The new KIA Sportage enters the market in China with a 160-horsepower engine and offers manual and automatic gear switching to choose from. Its retail price starts at 171,800 yuan.
