Kia builds a one-off Sportage SUV to rescue sea turtles

The South Korean automaker has partnered up with a non-commercial organization named Sea Turtle Inc to try and save the dwindling sea turtle population.

To achieve this goal, the company built a one-off SUV based on the Sportage X-Pro version for North America. The engineers retrofitted the car with reshaped bumpers, wheels featuring beadlock protection, and low-pressure off-road tires. All of the above was done to facilitate driving through sand dunes.

In addition to the above, the wildlife-saving Sportage boasts an exclusive exterior finish, auxiliary lighting and an expedition rack. The interior is not shown, but the company claims it comes equipped with safe transportation solutions for baby turtles and turtle eggs.
