The Kia Stinger fell short of its creators’ expectations, demonstrating sales numbers far less impressive than what the South Korean manufacturer had hoped to see.
Accoring to the Chief Designer of Kia Germany, the Stinger was never destined to become the crowd favorite, but the company still expected it to be much more popular than it turned out to be. For one thing, sales in Australia turned out to be only half as good as planned, and the U.S. sales are slowing down by the day.
The Korean carmaker tends to blame the ‘unusual’ design of the car for this, claiming that the existing customer base simply could not ‘appreciate it for what it was.’ As such, the company does not feel like abandoning the model yet. In fact, to follow the trends, it might even make the Stinger an EV later on. Or maybe it will keep releasing it with ICE engines after giving it a due facelift or two.
One thing is certain: Kia will not abandon the sinking Stinger anytime soon.
