After many years of hearing rumors about the Kia Stinger getting the axe “soon”, we can finally confirm that the model is discontinued. Before it can become history, though, Kia will be issuing a special edition called Tribute based on the Gran Tourer spec.
Only 1,000 units will be made for the entire world, the Korean manufacturer says. The new EV6 GT will serve as a successor of sorts to the Stinger GT, although the company admits they are not directly comparable.
Buyers of the limited series will be able to get it in an exclusive new shade called Moonscape Matte Grey, while those more conservatively-minded may opt for the old Ascot Green exterior. The side mirror caps, 19-inch wheels and Brembo calipers are offset in black in both cases.
Opening a door reveals the name of the edition on the kick plates along with the individual serial number of the car. The rest of the cabin is wrapped in brown leather, including the door panels and the steering wheel. Some areas are given a “carbon look” for contrast.
From the technical perspective, the Tribute spec runs on the same 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 as the regular Stinger GT, rated at 370 PS (365 hp / 272 kW) and 510 Nm (376 lb-ft) of torque.
