Kia Telluride facelift teased for the first time

Shortly before unveiling the second-generation Kia Telluride at the Los-Angeles Auto Show in November, the automaker has shared the first two photos of the large SUV. It looks boxy, muscular and rugged, and likely shares most of its tech with the Hyundai Palisade.

According to the company, the new Telluride was designed with Kia’s latest philosophy in mind, “Opposites United”. It cuts a rather menacing figure with Range Rover-like shoulder line and black c-pillars. It also has upright headlights and a panoramic roof with a hatch.

No technical specifications have been announced yet. Unofficial sources claim the base spec will reach the showrooms with a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine rated at 290 PS (286 hp / 214 kW). The top spec will allegedly utilize a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor for 330 PS (325 hp / 243 kW) or more reaching the wheels.

Kia points out that the LA Auto Show premiere wasn’t just a matter of convenient timing. The company deliberately chose the show because the Telluride was designed from the ground up for the North American market. It then became a staple model for the Korean company in the region, setting expectations for customers and introducing them to the Kia design language.
