2023 Kia XCeed revealed ahead of premiere

The Kia XCeed is almost ready for its most extensive overhaul in three years, and the manufacturer has now revealed a couple of sketches previewing a new spec called GT-Line ahead of the full reveal on July 18, 2022.

Unlike the regular Ceed model, which received its latest session of nip-and-tuck last summer, the SUV sports more profound evolutionary design changes and shifts to using eco-friendlier powertrains.

Specifically, the car pictured has new anti-fog lamps built into redesigned bumpers, slim headlights consisting of three boomerang-shaped LEDs, new fake exhaust tips, and taillights composed of numerous glowing dots. The 2022 Ceed GT-Line model from last year would up with largely the same changes. Note also the new KIA logo stripped of its old oval backplate.

The interior has not been shown yet (the rest of the images and the video in the gallery show the pre-facelift XCeed), but we expect things to be in line with all other recent Kia releases. This implies a 12.3-inch digital dash display, an updated infotainment system, new electronic assists and new, previously unavailable trim options.

It is official that there will be new powertrain variants on offer as well, but the rest is up to speculation. The leading rumor is that the new XCeed will switch to all-hybrid power with no ICE models on sale anymore. The base spec will allegedly be a mild-hybrid one combining a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-pot and a small-time electric motor for 120 PS (118 hp / 88 kW). A higher spec will probably offer a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine coupled with a 44.5-kW electric motor for a systemic output of 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW). As a plug-in hybrid, the car may ship with an 8.9-kWh traction battery rated for 60 km (37 miles) of all-electric range. Then again, all of these specs are just speculation based on the existing Kia/Hyundai technology.
