Kimera K39 touches down at Lake Como with 1,000 PS from Koenigsegg

A twin-turbo V8 from Koenigsegg enables the Lancia 037-inspired Kimera K39 hypercar to slam the wheels with 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 747 kW) in both track-only and street-legal variants.

The company explains that it dialed down the turbocharger volume somewhat in order to achieve a smoother power curve. The torque is capped at 1,200 Nm (885 lb-ft). It’s still unknown how fast the coupe is, but we will know for sure when it attempts the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb next year.

In the meantime, Kimera Automobili has introduced both K39 models on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. Compared to its civilian-minded counterpart, the race car debuted with a massive front splitter, low-slung side skirts, an air scoop on the roof and a humongous rear wing. It also wore an iconic Martini Racing livery, whereas its road-worthy cousin arrived dressed in all red with a single white stripe down the middle.

All prices are private. Kimera claims it has already received more than 20 preorders.
