Kiska unveils its first own-branded sports car, the APG-1

Kiska Design, a company known for its industrial design collaborations with Husqvarna and KTM motorbike brands and for making an electric bike for Audi, is now looking to establish a new car marque called Alpine Playground. The APG-1 sports car pictured here is going to be its first production model.

The designers must have taken inspiration from the Lancia Stratos, as evidenced by the outlines of the coupe and numerous other details, like the pronounced wheel arches and the contrast insert behind the cabin. The headlamps are quite unique, and an impressive rear wing can be found at the rear. The cabin remains a mystery so far.

The design team chose to demonstrate the concept using a digital model of the KTM X-Bow GT-XR as a starting point. That car features a carbon-aluminum chassis and has a dry weight as low as 1,130 kg (2,491 pounds). Powering it is a 2.5-liter Audi engine rated at 500 PS (492 hp / 368 kW) and 581 Nm (429 lb-ft) of torque, which links to a seven-speed DCT and the rear wheels.

Kiska Design openly admits that the coupe had originally been conceived as a pure design study to show off the talents in its team. However, after taking a better look at the result, someone in the executive department decided to secure the production capacities for the project and make ‘Alpine Playground’ a full-fledged car brand. Since it is going to be a niche production, a coachbuilder may be enough.
