“Used” Koenigsegg Gemera crops up on sale before production start

A dealership in the United States lists a Koenigsegg Gemera for sale in the Used Cars category, even though the first shipments were only meant to begin next year.

Nothing is being revealed about this particular car except for its VIN (ending in 001), mileage (zero), and production year (2023). There is no mention of a price, but there is a photo showing what looks like a Gemera sitting in a warehouse somewhere.

One guess is that it is a pre-production sample built for testing purposes. The seller neglects to mention whether the hypercar has a functioning powertrain or is just a life-sized mockup. Another theory suggests it is just an ad for a production slot: Koenigsegg will be only making 300 such vehicles.

The Gemera debuted a couple of years ago (see video). Its main distinguishing feature from all other Koenigsegg models was a four-seat cabin with bucket seats and a massive transmission tunnel. Powered by a hybrid drivetrain, the car exerted up to 1,724 PS (1,700 hp / 1,268 kW) to the wheels, zapping from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 1.9 seconds. Pricing was estimated at $1.7 million USD before options.
