Koenigsegg introduced a new hypercar called Gemera around two years ago, but work is still ongoing on the first functioning prototype. In the latest video, CEO Christian von Koenigsegg shows how much has already been done and what remains.
Powering one of the world’s most radical hypercars is a 2.0-liter internal combustion engine accompanies by multiple electric motors for a total output of 1,724 PS (1,700 hp / 1268 kW) and 3,500 Nm (2,581 lb-ft) of torque. Packing this kind of punch enables the Gemera to zap from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in mere 1.9 seconds and max out somewhere close to 400 km/h (250 mph). All-electric range is capped at 50 kilometers (31 miles), but drivers can still accelerate to 300 km/h (186 mph) in this mode.
Apparently, the Swedish company is still tuning the engine sound, because the current version fails to excite on many levels. The cabin is also far from finished, but the company promises to put a number of modern niceties there. These include displays for all passengers in both rows, four cup holders with heating and cooling functions, a three-zone climate control system, and wireless phone charging.
