The $2,850,000 Koenigsegg Jesko hypercar went in production last summer with an insane exterior design and a powertrain capable of colossal 1,622 PS (1,600 hp / 1,193 kW). In the company’s latest video, CEO Christian von Koenigsegg himself demonstrates the extreme 5.0-liter V8 TT in action.
The engineering crew made every effort to make the engine as lightweight and responsive as possible in tandem with the company’s trademark Light Speed Transmission. The drivetrain lacks the traditional clutch and flywheel and weighs as little as 98 kilograms, or 216 pounds. Along with a number of other weight-reduced components, it enables the engine to rev up from neutral to red line (7,800 RPM) in record-breaking 231 milliseconds.
Christian claims it is one of the fastest engines he has ever seen. Aside from mountain-moving amounts of horsepower, it has equally impressive 1,500 Nm (1,106 lb-ft) of torque.
The first deliveries should begin next spring, and Koenigsegg plans to produce only 125 units in total.
