Video: Watch the 1,600-HP Koenigsegg Jesko slide and slalom on ice

Koenigsegg has published an Easter-themed video titled Egghunt, which features its latest Jesko hypercar prototype drifting on an icy crust of its proving grounds in Arjeplog, Sweden.

The engineering crew used the opportunity to fine-tune the chassis of the vehicle, ensuring that the rear-wheel steering system operated accordingly. They also checked the performance of the entire drivetrain in low outdoor temperatures.

Powering the hypercar is a V8 assisted by an electric supercharger for 1,622 PS (1,600 hp / 1,193 kW). A state-of-the-art, sync-free transmission drives the wheels and is unique in that it can instantly switch, for example, from seventh gear into fourth.

The developers of the coupe have run calculations suggesting it is shaping up to be the world’s fastest production vehicle by far. While limited to 482 km/h (300 mph) on paper, it has everything needed to exceed 500 km/h (310 mph).

The Koenigsegg Jesko hit the spotlight three years ago. All 125 units have since been sold in pre-orders.
