Sweden-based hypercar builder Koenigsegg works hard on surpassing the international speed record of 278 mph (447 km/h) its own Agera RS vehicle set in the fall of 2017. If successful, the title of the fastest-going car in the world should pass to the new Koenigsegg Regera.
According to some sources, the company is currently developing a new ECU software that would enable the car to accelerate past its factory-set limit of 255 mph (410 km/h) and sprint 0-250 mph (0-400 km/h) in breathtaking 20 seconds.
The Koenigsegg Regera comes powered by a hybrid drivetrain consisting of a five-liter twin-turbo gasoline engine and three electric motors. Its total output is estimated at 1,500 hp (1,119 kW) and 2,000 Nm (1,475 lbft) of torque. Even in its stock form (if the word even applies), it sprints 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds.
Let’s wait and see whether the Regera can go past 278 mph (447 km/h) and set a new record.
