Koenigsegg celebrates 1,000,000 Instagram followers by thrashing the hell out of its car

The worldwide known Swedish hypercar manufacturer Koenigsegg has found an unorthodox way to celebrate one million followers of its Instagram channel.

They put their renowned hypercar Koenigsegg Regera to a series of extreme crash tests which involved overcoming obstacle courses, driving over pothole-riddled terrain, surviving multiple collisions, and – last but not least – getting smashed full force by sledgehammers.

Aside from all the hype such treatment of the ultra-expensive hypercar garnered, Koenigsegg had another clear intent in mind: namely, to demonstrate just how safe their creations are. Based on the footage revealed, it can be deduced that the driver enjoys excellent safety while inside the car. Granted, no statistical data was published by the car manufacturer following these tests to further support the evidence.

To look at the video, you’d get an impression that carbon fiber is a nigh-unbreakable material. Even direct sledgehammer hits barely left a trace on the graceful body of the Koenigsegg Regera. Neither did it have any trouble speeding over curbs and rough bumps: both the suspension and the bumpers were left completely intact.

The Koenigsegg Regera count among the world’s fastest and most powerful cars. Driven by a twin-turbo, 1,500-horsepower V8, it bolts to 100 km/h (60 mph) in 2.8 seconds and can ultimately reach 400 km/h (248.5 mph). It comes with a price tag in excess of €2,000,000.
