Video: Koenigsegg Regera sets a new record

Koenigsegg published a video featuring its Regera superhybrid on the Ring Knutstorp racetrack in Sweden. The car covered the 2,079-meter (6,820-ft.) long track in 1 minute 3.84 seconds, surpassing the records once set by the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, McLaren 600LT, and McLaren Senna.

Interestingly enough, the Regera is not even positioned as a track weapon per se. It is a Gran Turismo model not primarily designed for extreme cornering performance. And yet, it has somehow managed to set a new lap time, proving its worth in multiple roles.

The hybrid powertrain of the car is manufacturer-rated at 1,500 PS (1,479 hp / 1,103 kW). Two years ago, it set another record by accelerating 0-400-0 km/h (0-248-0 mph) in mere 31.49 seconds.
