An exotic from the ex-USSR – a 1988 Lada-2105 – has been posted for sale in the United States with considerable tuning modifications under its belt. The sedan makes use of Ford, Nissan and Toyota parts throughout and is being traded for $13,000 with a couple days remaining.
Up until 2016, the Lada resided in Europe where it took part in rally tournaments. It was then imported to North America and rebuilt from the ground up with all kinds of available parts.
In one of the Florida-based tuning shops, it received an engine transplant to Toyota’s legendary 2JZ-GTE. The mill was further upgraded with Garrett turbochargers, a custom manifold, an intercooler and a plethora of other aftermarket parts. The power was apparently never measured, but the tuner installed a four-speed manual transmission from a Nissan 350Z to better handle the torque.
Further modifications included a Ford rear axle, 17-inch Enkei wheels, and new suspension arms and shocks. The stock brakes made room for Nissan 300ZX calipers and rotors.
The interior was stripped of everything stock and retrofitted with a racing dashboard, OMP bucket seats with Sabelt safety harnesses, and a power-assisted sports steering wheel. A roll cage and a fire extinguisher were also added for rally racing. On the outside, the unique Lada boasts flared fenders, air intakes all around and an elaborate trunk lid spoiler.
