£20k buys you a BMW-swapped, automatic Lada Niva

A three-door Lada Niva SUV with some highly unusual modifications is looking for a new owner willing to pay £19,495 for it in the UK.

The owner had its stock 1.7-liter engine replaced with a BMW mill rated at 125 PS (123 hp / 92 kW), but never specified its model or other parameters in the ad description. He also transplanted a BMW five-speed automatic transmission into the Niva, so it is a rear-wheel-drive car now. A sports exhaust system was installed, too.

Other additions included a rear sway bar, longer springs for a 50 mm (2”) increase in ride height, and custom wheels shod in Pirelli Scorpion zero tires.

The Niva was black when it left the factory in Russia, but the owner had it finished in navy blue to match the new radiator grille, black bumpers, and LED lights.

Funnily enough, the steering wheel inside is of Mercedes make despite the Niva badge on it. The front seats are heated, and the trim specification includes an engine launch button, central locking, power windows, and an AC.

The car was registered in the UK in early 2019 and currently has around 13,800 km (8,600 miles) under its belt.
